Reads and Thoughts

Ola! I'm one of those crazy girls who is overly addictive to books and reading. I'm weird around books and tends to read them abnormally fast. And I'm a hopeful romantic who is a firm believer of Happily Ever Afters.
Overprotected - Jennifer Laurens There, in front of the mirror I stood. And there, in the mirror I remained.

Ashlyn is a lonely society princess living in New York City. Her father wanted her to keep a bodyguard with her at all times. He thought she'd be safe. He thought he could keep her forever. He thought she'd never fall in love. So he hired the one person he knows she could never fall in love with, her childhood enemy Colin. But then, daddy might be wrong.

This book definitely lives up to it's title! The main character Ashylyn is really one overprotected girl!. She is watched every minute of everyday by her bodyguard or what her father would like to call 'companions'. When in school, there is a bodygurad waiting at the door and follows here everywhere she goes. The only time she feels free is when she looses herself to the music as she plays the piano. It is the body guard-falls-in-love-with-a-girl-he's-protecting kind of story which can be considered a cliché, but there is definitely more to it than that.

The characters in here are all very much lovable.
Ashlyn was one vibrant character and telling the story on her point of view is what really keeps me from going forward on this book. And as the book progress, you could also see how she grows and develops. Honestly, I really liked the way she handled her parent's over-protectiveness with her because if I was on her position I would have gone crazy with those may rules.
Colin was a very mysterious guy, yet he is utterly sexy and gentleman. He is hired to be Ashlyn's bodyguard (after the last one was dismissed because Ashlyn thinks that by getting rid oh him her father would no longer hire another one, but then, she is wrong).

These two have a very cute and interesting past. Colin is a few years older that Ashlyn. Their families were very good friends but Ashlyn hated Colin because of childhood reasons and still holds this grudge to him. I was grinning and smiling every time they were together. :">

Ashly's Parents, well I can't help but feel bad for them but at the same time I feel great sympathy especially for her father. They are very wealthy but very much obsessed with Ashylyn's safety. Yes, the reason within this over-protectiveness was very much valid and interesting but I though they still went to the extremes of it.

I was entirely surprised on how this books goes. This isn't all about romantic stuffs and alike, it is about family. I really liked how it handles that topic throughout the story.

Overall, I really enjoyed it! I truly could not put this down and finished it in one sitting. The plot is very much exciting and well paced. A highly recommended enjoyable and quick read. :)
